Another ACSI card site, again we just turn up. This site had worried us as to whether we’d get a pitch, the Monaco, only twenty miles away, Grand Prix weekend and we arrived to a queue of people trying to get in.
As luck would have it they had one remaining pitch big enough to take our 7m Pursuit. Just.
Not a very big site, but tight, a motor mover would be handy here. Pitches on this site are our first taste of tight, almost Aire, European style pitches. All our other pitches so far in Europe have been ample. This pitch has room for the caravan and the canopy, just. We parked the car on the grass to the side of our pitch. Only 2 pitches had this luxury. Others squeezed cars wherever they could. Not too sure the gardener was happy with our choice of parking spot. More suited to Motorhomes than caravans really as once in the the site there are a couple of tight corners and not much room for manoeuvrability. Not sure we would recommend this site for larger vehicles.
The toilet block is to my liking. The only thing lacking is toilet paper, hand soap and a hand dryer. Toilets, showers and sinks are all separate, so you have to trek from one side of the block to the other in a morning to complete you daily routine, loo, showers then sinks. No privacy cubicles or hairdyers are on offer here. The shower cubicles are just one open space with no separate drying area or anywhere to put things down. I was concerned that my clothing and towels placed on the hooks provided would get wet but each cubicle is reasonably sized and things stay dry.
There are washing up facilities and laundry facilities complete with plugs for the sinks. Washing machines are available for a €4 charge and they have a member of staff who does it for you. Not sure how I’d feel having someone else handling my smalls that are no longer as small as they used to be.
Wifi is free but very intermittent, the best signal was near the reception area.
With the site literally on the edge of the Mediterranean there’s no need for a swimming pool or play area.
Whilst the site is perfectly located for the beach, which is large pebbles, not sand, it is in a very built up area. Traffic noise and regular sirens from emergency service vehicles can be heard. There is also a sulphur like smell that appears at different points of the day and lingers for a while. There’s some excellent cycling to be had in the area. We cycled along the coast to San Remo on one of our days.
All this taken into account for 2 people for 3 nights we paid €57.
